focaccine al formaggio - Italian-style cheese buns
Excellent, almost vegan dish. Buns are prepared very quickly and simply. The taste is tender, tasty, with a pronounced cheese flavor. Good for both tea and lunch.
Ingredients:
- 200 gr. flour
- 50 gr. soft butter (I think extra virgin olive would work just fine)
- 25 gr. oatmeal
- a pinch of salt
- 1/2 tsp soda, slaked (lemon juice)
- 75 gr. grated white cheese (such as brynza or Adyghe)
Cooking method:
- Rub butter with flour.
- Add salt, soda, cereal and cheese, mix.
- Pour in the milk and knead well with a spoon (the dough should be soft and sticky).
- With wet hands, form small buns and lay them out at a distance of about 2 cm from each other on a baking sheet covered with parchment.
- Bake for 10-15 minutes at 200°C.
